Training the next generation of grain industry professionals to safely and sustainably feed the world is a growing challenge.

The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) established the GEAPS Foundation in 2011 as a mechanism to secure a stable and predictable funding stream to help support training grain and processing industry operators and managers.

GEAPS Foundation Receives $500,000 from CHS Foundation to Help Fund Development of Grain Industry Education Programs

Each year hundreds of grain industry professionals take courses on facility design, materials handling, equipment maintenance, safety and grain quality management. The courses are offered through the world-class distance education program developed by GEAPS and Kansas State University.

To keep pace with the industry’s evolving needs the GEAPS/K-State program requires a stable source of funding to support the development of new courses and update and replacement of current courses.

The GEAPS Foundation is working to raise $4 million over five years to help support the GEAPS/K-State Distance Education Program. Money raised will go into the Professional Development Programs Endowment Fund to be invested. The investment income will be used to enhance and expand the GEAPS/K-State course offerings.

GEAPS leaders have already committed a direct contribution of $1 million. The remaining $3 million will be raised through contributions from grain companies, industry service and equipment suppliers and individuals.

The Foundation also administers funding for the Henry H. Kaufmann Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition aid to full-time agribusiness professionals who wish to study a foreign language course to enhance their careers.

Foundation Leadership
The GEAPS Foundation Board is comprised of industry leaders from a cross section of the grain and processing industry.
