Chapter Leader Workshop: Recruit, Engage, Retain
Tuesday, July 13, 1–5 p.m.
At the July 13 Chapter Leader Workshop at the annual Leadership Conference, representatives from the Chapter Resource, Membership, and Marketing Oversight Committees met to tackle the challenge of recruiting new member to GEAPS--and what to do once they’ve joined. How do you make GEAPS membership valuable for others? How can you help engage your fellow members? And how do you find the next GEAPS leaders?
These questions and more were considered during the three-hour workshop, led by CRC Chair Tom Winkel, North Iowa Chapter. Members were tasked with identifying best practices for recruiting, engaging and retaining members, and answering the question "Why Should I Be a GEAPS Member?"
The goal of the afternoon session was to create detailed notes for a Member Toolkit that will be posted online at www.geaps.com and a future issue of In-Grain for use by all GEAPS members. As envisioned by the three committees involved, when completed the toolkit will be a useful compilation of ways to address recruitment, engagement and retention challenges, which the committees involved identified as the three key areas of the membership lifecycle.
