GEAPS > How to use the membership database

Already been to the online membership database? Click here to log back in.

The database is a snap to use, and some experimental clicking around may be all you need to do to learn how it works and what it offers. But here are a few basic instructions:

Once you've logged in (see instructions here), you'll see a page headed "General -- Login success." The best way to begin using the database is to click "Membership" on the menu buttons across the top of the browser window.

On the "Membership" page, scroll down towards the heading "Quick Search." This option allows you to search the member database for Committee/Chapter leaders.

Committee/Chapter Leader Quick Search:

As you scroll down the Membership page, just above the General Tasks bar, you will see a quick search with a pull-down menu. This allows you to search by committee or chapter name to view a specific leadership roster. You may also put your cursor on the pull-down menu down arrow and click to see the entire list of chapter leaders and committees. To view, highlight and click on the chapter or committee name of your choice. When you are finished viewing the committee, click on the link at the bottom of the page labeled "Back to membership main" or use the back button on your internet browser.

General Membership Tasks

As you continue to scroll down the Membership page, you will see a list of links under the header "General Tasks." Here's what they are:

Access Membership Directory

(The last link on the page.) This is a search function that allows you to view limited information about other GEAPS members. Follow the instructions to choose various search criteria, and click submit. This will bring up a list of members that fit your criteria. Clicking (view) or the member name will bring you to a specific member's contact information. Less criteria will bring more results, using more criteria narrows the results you can get.

My Personal/Address Information

Clicking on this link brings you to your address and demographic information. It's where you can make changes to your name, company, job title, e-mail address, etc. You can also update or change any demographic info at this link.

Reset My Password

If you need to change your password, click this link. It will request your old password, and ask for a new one. Choose reset password and you are set.

My Current Membership Information

This is where you can see a snapshot of your GEAPS membership. Find out about your account status, your chapter, any payments you have made to GEAPS and any invoices the payments generated.

At the bottom of the page is a list of three links. To update or correct your membership information, click the middle one labeled "Update Membership Information." This will bring you to your membership demographic information. Make changes as needed. When you are satisfied with your record, click "save." You will be returned to the My Current Membership Information page.

To deal with your information in the online directory, scroll to the bottom of the page, "Online Membership Directory." To conceal some of your membership information from other members, choose the middle button. Remove checks from the boxes you would like to hide. Clicking "Save" will save these changes. If you prefer to have your information omitted from the online directory altogether, click on the bottom button and then click "Save." (This function applies only to the Online Directory, not the annual printed GEAPS Directasource and Buyers Guide. Please contact the GEAPS office with questions pertaining to omitting information from the Directasource.)

My Membership History:

Allows you to look at past years' membership information, past chapter information and payments and purchases.

My Chapter:

Clicking on this link will bring you to your chapter's main page. This shows you a list of chapter officers, the chapter email address and allows you to view rosters of active and inactive chapter members. 

To view a chapter roster, scroll down to the heading "What would you like to do?" and click on the option titled "View Chapter Roster." You will be brought to a page titled, "Membership -- Chapter Roster. To view the roster, choose the date you would like to see a roster for, and click the box marked "Active," "Expired," or both and click the button marked "Update." You will be shown a list of members for your chapter.

To find additional information about a particular member, you will need to use the "Member Directory" search mentioned above.
