2009 Safety Awards Program
Safety
Award Program honors facility safety performance
The application deadline for the 2009 Safety Awards Program
is December 31, 2008.
Registration Ends Dec. 31 For 2009 Safety Awards Program
Every year GEAPS honors companies and facilities with verifiable records of achievement. In August, GEAPS launched its 2009 Safety Awards program. Enrollment closes at the end of this month, so act fast if you're interested in participating.
Safety motivates a lot of what we do as an organization, from educational programming to Web site archiving to production of safety videos for the grain-operations industry.
Winning a GEAPS Safety Award puts you in esteemed company. At Exchange 2008 in Omaha, the Safety Awards program honored 27 companies representing 400 separate facilities. Those facilities posted nearly 13.3 million cumulative worker hours without a lost-time, work-relegated injury or illness.
The 2009 Safety Awards will be distributed on stage in a ceremony at Exchange 2010 in Wichita. Simply fill out the application form on the previous page and fax or mail it back to the GEAPS office, with the appropriate enrollment fee ($60 for facilities employing a GEAPS member, $90 for non-member facilities). Note that the program is not only for grain-storage facilities, but also for suppliers, engineers and millwrights who are in the industry, too.
Get involved. Recognize achievement at your facility. Help us carry on our industry's exceptional record of safety.
Download an application (PDF) here and be sure to send it into the GEAPS office before the Dec. 31, 2008 deadline.
OSHA Summaries Needed For Safety Awards Program
If your facility was enrolled in the 2008 Safety Awards Program, remember to submit a copy of your OSHA 300A summary to the GEAPS office showing that your facility had no LTAs for the 2008 year.
All qualifying facilities that submit their 300A summary to the GEAPS office by Jan. 23, 2009, will be announced at the GEAPS Exchange 2009 in St. Louis.
In the spring of 2009, you will receive a plaque honoring your facility's safety achievement in 2008. You may fax, mail or e-mail the copy of your OSHA 300A summary to Karin Maida at GEAPS, 4248 Park Glen Rd., Minneapolis, MN 55416; (952) 928-4640; karin@geaps.com.
