In July 2017 the GEAPS Leadership Education and Networking Workshop drew 100 attendees to Bloomington, Minnesota, to build leadership, time management and generational skills.

The event opened with Kit Welchlin, Welchlin Communications, presenting two hour-long sessions on stress and time management. He focused on helping leaders maximize productivity by eliminating time-wasters.

Mary Gillen, XYZ University, followed with a session on understanding and working with millennials. Gillen took advantage of live polling technology, asking attendees to describe their feelings towards other generations, and displaying the results on screen in real time to demonstrate generational viewpoints. Tuesday evening concluded with a networking reception.

Wednesday morning featured Keynote Speaker Paul Batz, delivering a presentation on good leadership and rewarding excellence. His session included a number of small group activities, challenging attendees to evaluate their life and work environments, before sharing with the entire group.

Here’s What Attendees Had to Say:

“This is a great event with quality speakers. I feel like all three speakers this year offered a lot of things you can implement in both your personal and professional life. Some of key things I learned were the challenges we face bringing different generations together in the work place, what motivates each generation and what each group values.” – Brent Hansen, Sukup Manufacturing

“The workshop helped me build skills I usually try to improve at work. This program provides a lot of value, like GEAPS Exchange. Any time you can get together with a group of GEAPS members who are ready to learn, you can expect great participation and networking.” – Lonnie Glen, Kice Industries

“It’s tough to beat an opportunity to spend time networking with decision makers outside of a facility setting. Events like this give you an opportunity to learn more about the person, and not just the contact at that company.” – Mike Stratis, Cleveland Vibrator Company

“My company sent three employees to the workshop. The sessions were relevant to my job, and it was a great team building exercise!” – Mehgan Andrzejewski, T.E. Ibberson Company
