Training Overview

All grain companies need trained and skilled operators and maintenance people. GEAPS and Kansas State University have designed this program to train grain workers on real, operating grain conveying equipment. 

Hands-On Training for the Operation and Maintenance of Conveying Equipment 

The hands on training is designed for anyone responsible for grain facility equipment maintenance and repair, maintenance training or maintenance-program protocol or systems development. People with a wide range of experience and training are expected to benefit, including frontline maintenance workers, grain facility managers and supervisors with equipment repair and maintenance roles. 

Training Completion

Upon successful completion, participants will walk away with the skills and confidence to: 

• Install, operate, and inspect conveying equipment used in grain facilities. 

• Troubleshoot common issues and perform effective maintenance. 

• Recognize how improper use of conveying equipment can affect grain quality. 

• Apply and follow best safety practices and procedures for conveying equipment. 

Training Format

Over three days, participants will learn directly from expert presenters in both classroom and hands-on settings. The training combines instructor demonstrations with practical exercises to build real-world skills to immediately apply in day-to-day use.

• Practical guidelines for developing and implementing a comprehensive preventive maintenance program

Prerequisite Online Training:

Preparation begins before you arrive at the International Grains Program (IGP) Institute. Participants will complete six online learning modules designed to build foundational knowledge needed for a successful in-person training experience. Each module focuses on essential maintenance and safety concepts, incorporates insights from experienced grain industry professionals, and includes a brief knowledge check to reinforce learning.
