GEAPS Honors Tedrow with Corbett Award
Each year, the President’s Banquet offers a chance to recognize members who have made exceptional contributions to GEAPS and the industry. This year, GEAPS honored Allan Tedrow, McCormick Construction, Greater Iowa Chapter with the Corbett Award, GEAPS’ highest award for Associate Members. Associates Board President Darren Zink, Tuthill Transfer Systems, Hoosier, presented the award.
Tedrow started in the industry in 1982. He joined GEAPS in 1999 and is an active member in the in his chapter. He first ran for the Associates Board of Directors in 2002, and served on the Associates Board for five years.
“Wow, as a sales guy, it is not very often that I am speechless, but this award leaves me with few words,” Tedrow said. “I am truly humbled to receive this award and am honored to be in a group of very distinguished recipients. I would like to thank my employer, McCormick Construction for allowing me to participate on the Education Committee for some many years. They have been truly supportive of continuing the education into the industry.”
Throughout his time in GEAPS, Tedrow has been a tireless recruiter. He has a reputation for not only recruiting new members, but for also getting them involved in GEAPS so they in turn become advocates. He also has a reputation for connecting members and solving problems.
Tedrow’s impact on GEAPS Exchange has been felt for years. He served on the Exchange education programming Committee from 2002 until 2018, including two years as chair. He helped initiate the interactive education Pods in the Expo Hall.
“I believe strongly in further education, whether that is hands-on training at a facility, our distance education or the sessions at Exchange,” Tedrow said. “We should never stop learning and the GEAPS organization facilitates that education opportunity.”
About the Corbett Award
The GEAPS Associate Board of Directors bestows the Corbett Award to recognize Associate members who have demonstrated extraordinary volunteer leadership on behalf of all Associate members in the pursuit of GEAPS’ mission.
The Corbett Award is named in honor of the late John Corbett, Kansas City Chapter, who served three years as Associates Board president from 1980 to 1983. John was the first honoree in 1987 and the name of the award stuck.
