GEAPS Launches New Introduction to Grain Quality Management Course

Education in Protecting Grain Quality Long Before Grain Leaves the Bin
The choices made every day at a facility directly affect grain value, risk, and profitability. This includes everything from sampling and grading to drying, storage and shipping. That is why Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) released its new Introduction to Grain Quality Management online learning course. The course helps learners understand those connections and make informed decisions that support operational success.
Grain quality management is about more than procedures. Even small decisions can have significant impacts on grain value and a facility’s bottom line. “Maintaining quality is one of the most important responsibilities at any storage facility,” said Carley Snider, GEAPS Learning and Development Manager. “This course helps learners connect their day-to-day decisions to larger operational and financial outcomes, building the awareness needed to protect grain value, and support profitability.”
Who Should Enroll?
Designed specifically for new and emerging bulk grain handling supervisors responsible for maintaining quality in storage facilities, Introduction to Grain Quality Management focuses on the “why” behind the process. The self-paced e-learning experience helps unpack the best practices used throughout the grain handling process.
Key Takeaways
Throughout the course, learners examine key grain quality management activities and documentation, including binning, conveyance, drying, grading, maintenance, pest control and fumigation, sampling, shipping, storage, and weighing. By the end of the course, participants will be able to assess grain and environmental conditions, identify risks, apply best practices, and determine appropriate actions to increase value.
